How is a check card different
from an ATM card or checks?
A Compass Visa Check Card can be used like an ATM card, but can also be used like a check. With a check card, you can make purchases anywhere that accepts Visa Debit Cards, as well as use it to get cash at ATMs. So, you only have to carry your Check Card, instead of a checkbook and ATM card, to take care of most of your purchases.

How is a check card
different from a credit card?
All purchases made with a Compass Visa Check Card are automatically deducted from your checking account, so there are no finance charges and no monthly bills. Purchases are detailed on your monthly checking account statement, which makes it easy to track spending.

What if my card is lost or stolen or if I notice unauthorized check card transactions?
You should notify us immediately if your card has been lost or stolen to minimize risk. You should also contact us about any unauthorized check card transaction because you may not be liable for the transaction. You can contact us at 1-800-239-5175.

What is the difference between
pressing/saying ‘debit’ or ‘credit’?

When pressing or saying ‘debit’, you will have to enter your PIN to complete the transaction. When pressing or saying ‘credit’, you will sign the receipt. With either choice, your purchase is deducted from your checking account.
