State National Bank and Compass Bank
Frequently Asked Questions
for Individuals
Below are answers to some of the major questions clients often ask:
Q: Will my direct deposit continue after the conversion?
A: If you have direct deposit, automated deductions or transfers set up, they should continue without interruption after March 14th. We suggest you also check with any third-party companies involved in case you need to verify updated information with them including your new routing and transit number (see the personalized letter that arrived with Your Guide to Accounts and Services [PDF]).
Q: I have automatic drafts that come out of my account through ACH. Will these drafts continue automatically?
A: Yes. If you currently have an automatic draft from your State National Bank CHECKING, SAVINGS, or MMA, these transfers will continue as normal. ACH transfers for recurring payments such as loans or utility companies, or internal transfers you have initiated among your State National Bank accounts, will continue as well.
Q: How long will you accept my State National Bank checks?
A: You can continue to use your existing checks until they are gone. Your checks will not expire.
Q: How do I activate my new Compass Check Card?
A: You can visit a Compass Bank ATM and do a balance inquiry to activate the card. You may also call 1-800-COMPASS and select option 4 from the main menu to get started. You do not have to wait until March 14th to activate your card.
Q. Will my accounts and services remain the same?
A. We converted your State National Bank accounts to the Compass accounts closest to the ones you had. In most cases, you'll enjoy all the same features and services with some enhanced benefits. See Your Guide to Compass Accounts and Services (PDF) for complete information on your specific accounts.
Q. Can I keep my State National Bank account number and checks?
A. Account numbers for most deposit accounts remained the same. If you have one of the few accounts for which a number changed, you were sent your new account number separately. All customers can continue to use their existing checks until there is a need to reorder, even if your account number changed.
Q. Can I bank at Compass branches now?
A. Absolutely. And be sure to review our branch locator to find the most convenient location near you.
Q. Can I use Compass ATMs right now?
A. Yes. You can check your balances and withdraw cash from any Compass ATM – with no ATM fee.
Q. Now that my accounts have transferred to Compass will they continue to be FDIC-insured?
A. Yes, your deposit accounts at Compass will continue to be FDIC-insured to the maximum amount allowed by law. For more information about larger deposits and FDIC insurance, visit your local branch or call the FDIC customer information line at 1-877-275-3342.
Q. I have a State National Bank loan and/or line of credit account. What do I need to do?
A. Continue to make your payments just as you do today. You will be notified of any changes to your account number or payment process. The terms of your loan or line of credit will remain the same.
Q. What about my Online Banking service?
A. You should have received information in the mail about the transfer of your specific online services. If you're ready to use CompassPC® Online Banking, here are a few reminders.
Q. What if I have additional questions?
A. Simply call 1-866-518-9234.
