Achieving a steady growth rate has been more important to us than trying to be a glamour company that may quickly burn out," says Walt.

"I started my career as an auditor, so having evaluated the internal controls of several corporations, I can tell you the tone of ethical behavior always starts at the top of a corporation. Compass senior management has a high set of standards, values, and ethics.
Be open and above board.
"We have a very open organization. We have many meetings before any substantial transaction or policy change takes place, and every department is represented at these meetings. Every manager is involved in knowing what's going on in the corporation and they all have input."
