A great manager makes a great job even better.
In a recent survey, employees said that manager quality was one of the biggest factors in their job satisfaction.
One key to fostering excellent managers? Letting managers manage.
"Compass encourages its managers to run their areas with as much pride and integrity as they would manage their own shops. And they do. We're all held accountable. Likewise, we all have input. I feel responsible for the success of my branch. I feel recognized for everything I do. I feel that I have a career here and I can grow," says Emily.
At Compass, there's freedom to do more.
"The freedom we're given allows me to determine what works best for me, my employees, and my customers. This allows us to get down to business in creative ways, not just business as usual."
Managers want their employees to win.
"I want my employees to get where they want to be. If that means getting them extra training or buying them a book on leadership, I'll do it. Because if someone hadn't given me that same chance, I wouldn't be here. Upper management asks us to be coaches—to make sure our employees are ready for the next level. I'm proud to be with a company that provides such opportunity to so many and to work with quality people."
